From Conflict to Coexistence: Flox and Greenwood Join Forces to Protect Colorado’s Wildlife

Over 4,000 wild animals in Colorado end up in rehab annually due to human-wildlife conflict. Flox’s innovative technology, combined with Greenwood’s rehabilitation expertise, now helps keep animals safe in their natural habitats.

Longmont, Colorado, October 2025 – Flox, a leading wildlife intelligence company, and Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Longmont have announced a new partnership to prevent wildlife injuries and orphaning caused by human activity, like vehicle collisions, getting trapped in fences, or other preventable encounters with people.

Greenwood cares for more than 4,000 wild animals every year, representing over 200 species, while Flox develops AI-driven devices that detect, identify, and gently deter wildlife in real time using species-specific acoustics. As part of the partnership, Greenwood will share its data on wildlife-vehicle collisions and other conflict hotspots across Colorado – for example, local highways, airports, or urban-wildlife interfaces – and Flox will strategically plan future deployment of its systems. Together, they aim to keep animals out of dangerous roadways, runways, or infrastructure preventing the need for rehabilitation in the first place.

“This partnership lets us deploy technology where it can make a real difference – protecting wildlife and making daily life safer by, e.g. helping drivers avoid dangerous collisions with deer and other wildlife,” says Sara Nozkova, CEO & co-founder at Flox.

“Every animal that avoids injury is a success story,” added Misty Tatro, Greenwood’s Community Relations Manager. “Flox’s technology combined with our field expertise has the potential to help create a model for human-wildlife coexistence in Colorado.”

The partnership was first sparked at the University of Colorado Denver’s Smart Future Lab – an accelerator program that brings together startups, researchers, and change makers to tackle tomorrow’s challenges. It was here that Flox connected with Greenwood, turning shared ideas into real-world action for Colorado’s wildlife.

The collaboration also highlights Flox’s broader expansion in Colorado and reinforces its mission to provide humane, AI-powered wildlife management solutions across airports, transportation corridors, farms, and conservation areas.
